Senior GIS Software Developer

CSA Ocean Sciences Inc. (CSA) is a marine science and technical services consulting firm that provides a broad range of environmental, coastal and oceanographic services world-wide. CSA seeks a Senior GIS Software Developer to join its GeoSpatial Services group to be based out of the Stuart, FL office

Position Summary: Write and modify programs based on project specifications. Work closely with other team members and departments to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements and input data use while maintaining or creating a variety of programs existing at different levels of complexity as well as functionality.

Accountabilities, Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Working collaboratively with end users (internal and external clients) and business champions to understand requirements and design programs to meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Analyze the potential technical impact on design requirements and estimate schedule and effort for incorporating the requests
  • Design program enhancements and build on existing programs to fulfill specifications and determine flow within program
  • Code programs in an adaptive and iterative environment with dynamic requirements
  • Utilize development practices to ensure proper code practices and compliance are met
  • Provide rapid-response to client services and on-call technical support, as necessary
  • Demonstrate project progress to senior management and customer side teams.
  • Oversee responses to Requests for Proposal/Information and case studies on Systems Engineering client projects
  • Build and maintain communication channels to ensure client needs and expectations are continually met and exceeded
  • Work collaboratively with established team with minimal oversight
  • Multi-task and prioritize work during critical deadline-driven conditions

Essential Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, geography, engineering, or related discipline
  • 3-5 years of experience using the ArcGIS Desktop Suite 10.x
  • Experience using python or ArcGIS model builder is a plus
  • Some experience working with ecological spatial data and laboratory data preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of industry experience on developing end to end implementation of web applications
  • Good understanding of Object Oriented Concepts and Design patterns
  • Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle. Experience with source control, collaboration, and versioning tools – Clear case or GIT
  • Hands-on ESRI ArcGIS development expertise required for design and development of geospatial applications
  • Good understanding of MS Office tools
  • Recent experience with Microsoft and ArcGIS technologies:
    • NET Framework 4.5
    • C# Programming Language
    • MS Sql Server 2014
    • Entity Framework
    • WCF
    • IIS 6/7
    • Net
    • Net
    • HTML5, CSS3
    • JavaScript
    • Powershell
  • GIS development platforms like ESRI ArcGIS or Google Maps
  • ARCGIS Server expert and capable of development in poly services
  • Specific AGOL experience required
  • Experience with Unit Testing, Automated UI Testing, and Code Coverage tools.

Marine Mammal and Sea Turtle Observers (MMOs and PAM operators)

CSA Ocean Sciences Inc. is interested in contacting qualified, experienced marine mammal and turtle observers for potential aerial and shipboard surveys. Other potential survey areas include harbors, nearshore coastal waters, and beaches. These are temporary independent contractor positions (hourly or daily compensation with no additional benefits) that become available when we are awarded an MMO/PAM project. Objectives of projects can include:

  • Seasonal distribution and abundance;
  • Mitigation and monitoring of potential effects from oil and gas development and disturbance, including visual and passive acoustic (PAM) monitoring surveys during geophysical (seismic) surveys, marine construction operations, dredging, beach re-nourishment activities; and
  • Photography and photo-identification and cataloging.

Observers may participate in surveys at a variety of domestic and international locations. Depending on the survey, this position may require substantial time spent in the field.
