Bo Douglas, Project Scientist for CSA Ocean Sciences Inc., and Robert Mulcahy, Chief Operating Officer for CSA Ocean Sciences Inc., exhibited at the 2019 Western Dredging Association (WEDA) Summit held from 4 June to 8 June at the Hilton Chicago in downtown Chicago, Illinois.

The annual WEDA conference was attended by over 600 dredging industry-related professionals to discuss the current issues associated with dredging in the Western Hemisphere. This year, one primary emphasis was on the beneficial use of dredge materials and associated sediments. Three and a half days of presentations included environmental issues, beneficial reuse, contractor risk, sediment management, and safety. One of the presentation sessions included “Submerged Aquatic Vegetation Mitigation for the Bonner Bridge Replacement Project”, co-authored by Dr. Mark Fonseca of CSA, was presented, demonstrated innovative designs to allow for natural sediment accumulation to enhance seagrass habitat and recruitment in North Carolina.
