Earlier this month, we had the pleasure of exhibiting at an Esri event right in our back yard, the Esri Public Sector Conference, formerly the Southeast User Conference, at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. It was a great event for CSA Ocean Sciences because it offered the opportunity to interact with our Esri colleagues, display and demonstrate our capabilities in coastal and aerial image collection and analysis, attend informative presentations, interact with local and regional public agencies and businesses, and take advantage of Esri’s training opportunities.

Our Beautiful Ocean: The Giant Caribbean Sea Anemone

The giant Caribbean sea anemone (Condylactis Gigantea) is a tropical species of ball anemone that are found in shallow reefs and other shallow areas in the West Indies. This particular photo was taken by a staff marine biologist diving off the coast of Southern Florida.

Recently the Marine Operations group of CSA Ocean Sciences used our unmanned surface vehicle (USV) in Pensacola, FL for a series of surveys in various waterways in the area. These successful surveys were conducted over two days with a team of two CSA Ocean Sciences staff members. The project was led by the Institute for Human & Machine Cognition (IHMC) with funding from the RESTORE Act, which allocates administrative and civil penalties from the oil spill to projects that refurbish and protect the Gulf Coast region.
