CSA Ocean Sciences Inc. (CSA) is pleased to announce the promotion of Dr. Mark Fonseca to the position of Science Director.  Dr. Fonseca will work closely with Dr. Alan Hart, Executive Vice President – Science, to further develop the scientific staff and resources at CSA.  In addition to continuing his role of supporting and directing projects, Dr. Fonseca will also be focused on the ongoing professional development of CSA’s scientific staff while also striving to maintain the appropriate resources to meet existing and projected workloads.  “I look forward to working to sustain and enhance the science basis that is the hallmark of CSA’s products,” said Dr. Fonseca.

Together, Hart and Fonseca will work to ensure that CSA's capability and performance remains best in class.  With Dr. Fonseca focusing on the management of internal core resources, Dr. Hart will provide enhanced science support of CSA’s top-level strategic objectives and the ongoing development of the firm’s domestic and overseas offices and markets around the world.

Well suited to the new position, Dr. Fonseca has more than 30 years of experience in the development, management, and execution of nearshore assessment and restoration projects worldwide.  Prior to joining the CSA team, he also had extensive experience in programmatic development and implementation, having retired from a full career with NOAA as a Supervisory Ecologist where he was responsible for leading a research branch in diverse studies of applied ecology based out of the historic Beaufort Laboratory in North Carolina.
