January 24, 2019 – CSA Ocean Sciences (CSA), is now a PEC Safety Authorized Provider for its comprehensive Instructor-Led SafeGulf, SafeLandUSA, and H2S Clear training, which meets American Petroleum Institute (API) API RP 75 and API RP T-1 requirements. CSA’s multidisciplinary capabilities encompass offshore and coastal marine ecosystems within the Energy, Government, Ports, Beaches and Harbors, and Infrastructure markets. Health and Safety considerations have always taken top priority in all aspects of operations. Scientists from CSA Ocean Sciences Inc. (CSA) will attend and present at the annual Clean Gulf Conference this week in New Orleans. Clean Gulf is a prominent oil spill response conference in which representatives from the oil and gas industry, response contractors, and government agencies convene to share the year’s case studies, research, response products and services, news, and technological advances in preparedness, prevention, and mitigation of oil spills. CSA Completes Nassau Sound Survey to Support Amelia Island Beach Restoration

STUART, Fl. October 30, 2018 - CSA Ocean Sciences Inc. (CSA), a leading global marine environmental science consulting firm, announced the completion of a survey to collect data for hydrodynamic model calibration and verification in Nassau Sound, located north of Jacksonville, Florida. The CSA team measured inshore and offshore water level, tides, current and waves to calibrate and validate a hydrodynamic model. The team installed water level recorders and a wave-enabled Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) and conducted an estuarine water discharge survey to gather the needed data.

Morgan & Eklund, Inc. (M&E), CSA’s sister company, a licensed survey company specializing in hydrographic surveys, teamed with CSA on this project. The project was contracted and managed by Olsen Associates, Inc. (Olsen), an industry leader in coastal engineering and experts in beach restoration projects.

Dr. Teresa Thorpe Joins CSA Ocean Sciences as Proposal Coordinator

STUART, FLORIDA - CSA Ocean Sciences Inc., a marine environmental consulting firm that specializes in multidisciplinary projects concerning potential impacts of activities in coastal and marine ecosystems, today announced that Dr. Teresa Thorpe has joined the Team at CSA’s headquarters in Stuart, Florida, as the new Proposal Coordinator. Dr. Thorpe will take charge of managing and coordinating all aspects of CSA’s proposal efforts and provide technical and scientific editing support for the diverse studies produced by CSA scientists.

Dr. Thorpe comes to CSA with an extensive background in all aspects of proposal and project management. After completing her studies at King’s College, London, she was the Senior Biologist with a team from the University of Surrey, UK, that developed a water quality management strategy for small island resources in the Caribbean for the Overseas Development Agency. She then spent 14 years as a Research Biologist at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where she developed proposals and acquired government and non-government funding to conduct commercial and recreational fisheries-based research. Dr. Thorpe relocated to Florida in 2011, where she garnered extensive experience as a Science Editor, conducting technical and scientific editing and peer reviews for manuscript journal submissions.

CSA Implements Innovative Technology for Tracing Sewage Outfalls

CSA Ocean Sciences Inc. (CSA) is utilizing advance echosounder technology to examine sewage outfalls off the north coast of Puerto Rico, and has proven quite successful in terms of letting researchers “visualize” what’s going on.

Since 1999, CSA has performed comprehensive environmental monitoring for the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority (PRASA) as a subcontractor to CH2M to evaluate compliance with receiving water quality standards and describe environmental conditions around six offshore submarine discharges. Typical studies conducted by CSA and CH2M during the past 14 years include mixing zone studies, sediment sampling and testing, measurement of water column properties such as pH, dissolved oxygen, and currents, and water quality sampling of influent, effluent, and receiving water.
