Measures to Support Accessibility
CSA Ocean Sciences is committed to providing GSA service deliverables that are accessible to federal employees and members of the public in compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and Section 255 of the Communications Act. To meet this commitment, we conduct quality assurance testing of our GSA products to assess compliance and stay up-to-date on software, trainings, and tools to improve the accessibility of our products. CSA Ocean Science is also working towards full compliance across our websites.
Our pdf documents for GSA projects pass manual testing and Adobe Acrobat DC Accessibility tool testing.
Environmental Data and Geospatial Services
Products and deliverables produced by CSA’s Environmental Data and Geospatial Services (EDGS) team involve the collection, analysis, management, integration, and visualization of geospatial data. Examples of EDGS products and deliverables include cartographic products, geodatabases, and web-based maps that serve as a Common Operating Picture (COP). CSA uses Esri ArcGIS software, is a member of the Esri Partner Network, and is compliant with Esri standards for accessibility. The EDGS COP is a custom, web-based application that has been reviewed by Esri and is also compliant with Esri standards. Click here to view Esri’s accessibility standards and guidelines.
Our videos for GSA projects are screen reader legible, keyboard compatible so all operations can be performed without a mouse, and high-contrast colors are used. Video thumbnail alt-text is updated, play buttons are visible, and captions and audio descriptions are provided where needed to convey information.
We provide alternative text for images to allow assistive technology users and those with vision impairments to identify and comprehend the information in images.
