CSA Scientists Attend the 2019 IAIA Conference
John Tiggelaar, Project Scientist and Marine Ecologist for CSA Ocean Sciences Inc., and Sarah Watson, Senior Scientist for CSA Ocean Sciences (Australia) PTY Ltd., attended the 2019 International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA) conference held from April 29 to May 2, 2019 in Brisbane, Australia.
The annual IAIA conference attracted over 900 impact assessment professionals to discuss the evolution of impact assessment. Conference-specific sessions included a summary forum on the revised World Bank Environmental and Social Framework guidelines, discussions on methods for maintaining independence in conducting impact assessments, promoting trust between project proponents and stakeholders, and various sessions exploring the future of cumulative impact analyses, emerging impact assessment challenges, and climate change impact analyses.
Regarding his conference attendance, Mr. Tiggelaar commented, “The 2019 IAIA conference provided a valuable forum for meeting impact assessment professionals from around the world to discuss the future of impact assessments and how it may evolve to be a more useful tool in project planning and decision making.” For more information about the conference, please visit here.
