CSA Ocean Sciences, OSI and TSC Team Up For Beach Clean Up
On July 27th, CSA Ocean Sciences Inc. (CSA) teamed up with sister companies Ocean Sciences Inc. (OSI) and Technology Systems Corporation (TSC) to participate in the 12th annual Treasure Coast Waterway Cleanup. As one of the event sponsors, CSA, OSI, and TSC joined many other local volunteers to remove debris from our local marine environment.
The community-organized cleanup included 125 miles of waterways in Martin, St. Lucie, and Indian River Counties as well as the Peck Lake Reef Dive Cleanup. A total of 26 volunteers and families from CSA, OSI, and TSC with two CSA vessels collected debris and refuse from Treasure Coast beaches, shorelines, nearshore habitats, and Peck Lake Reef offshore Martin County. Shore-based cleanup crews swept shorelines along Stuart Beach, nearshore crews cleared trash from the Intracoastal Waterway spoil islands, and CSA divers removed trash and debris from sections of Peck Lake Reef.
Over 200 pounds of marine debris was collected, including bottles, cans, fishnets, fishing poles, and many forms of plastic. Come join us next year, and in the meantime, be a responsible steward of the environment and dispose of trash properly!
