CSA Achieves STOW Re-certification in Trinidad and Tobago
Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) Management is important to the success of global operations of CSA Ocean Sciences Inc. (CSA), an environmental consulting firm with headquarters in Stuart, Florida. CSA Ocean Sciences (Trinidad) Ltd. (CSA Trinidad), a local subsidiary of CSA, established an HSSE management system (HSSEMS) in Trinidad in 2017, consistent with Safe to Work (STOW) requirements established by the Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago (ECTT) and aligned with International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 45001:2018. This HSSEMS is used to assist local (Trinidad) management and employees in controlling health and safety risks, thereby protecting all employees, stakeholders, and the environment.
The HSSE Management System was certified by the STOW implementation board of the ECTT in 2019 and was recertified in 2020. The HSSEMS achieved a score of 98% and CSA Trinidad’s site inspection attained a score of 100%. CSA Trinidad is re-certified in the High-Risk category to conduct services including Environmental Consulting, Onshore/Offshore Environmental Studies, Environmental and Social Impact Assessments, and Nearshore and Offshore Hydrographic Surveys.
CSA has five decades of international experience providing environmental support to the oil and gas industry. In Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname, and Guyana, CSA continues to safely deliver environmental projects, which include desktop and field activities.
Rameez Persad, Operations Manager of CSA Trinidad, stated that: “Receiving recertification status demonstrates our local commitment to implementing HSSE management procedures. This has formed the cornerstone of our operations and has been key to CSA’s project success in the region.”
