CSA Attends 36th Annual Environmental Permitting Summer School

CSA Ocean Sciences Inc. (CSA) exhibited at the 36th Annual Environmental Permitting Summer School (Permitting School) conference held at the JW Marriott in Marco Island, Florida, July 19-22nd. Thank you for stopping by Booth 107 on the show floor and meeting Tony Martin, CSA’s Infrastructure Director, and Kayla Hartigan, CSA’s Marine Mammal/Marine Sound Expert.

The Permitting School is supported and organized by the Florida Chamber of Commerce through the Florida Environmental Network, Inc. (FENI). FENI is part of the Florida Chamber Foundation’s efforts to inform the public of the numerous environmental and growth management laws and regulations affecting Florida’s citizens and businesses. FENI does this through public awareness, education efforts, advocacy for the profession, legislative actions, and this conference.

CSA presented two sessions as part of the Permitting School. Mary Jo Barkaszi co-prepared and Ms. Hartigan presented “Marine Protected Species Mitigation: Noise Assessment and Mitigation for In-water Construction” as part of the “Threatened and Endangered Species In The Marine Realm” session. Dr. Mark Fonseca (CSA Vice President - Science) co-prepared and Raymond F. Dennis III (Principal - Environmental Services of Stantec Consulting Services, Inc.) presented “Challenges of Permitting Seagrass Impacts & Mitigation - Technical & Regulatory Issues that may be Encountered” as part of the “Seagrasses and Mangroves in Florida” session. The Permitting School included professionals representing associated with environmental-related fields, ecological assessments, environmental law firms, mitigation services, water management, environmental permitting and enforcement, coastal engineering, coastal planning, and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance.
