CSA Attends TGLO Adopt-A-Beach Cleanup Event on Padre Island
CSA Ocean Sciences Inc. (CSA) recently teamed with personnel from the Texas General Land Office (TGLO) to participate in an Adopt-A-Beach cleanup event on Padre Island National Seashore in south Texas. Adopt-A-Beach cleanups are family-friendly coastwide events organized by the TGLO throughout the year.
Mr. Jeffery Landgraf, a scientist at CSA, along with Mr. Bruce Simons of TGLO, with families, traveled to Corpus Christi, Texas to clean up a section of beach on the north end of Padre Island in late September. This particular cleanup event was organized as part of the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC), an annual event hosted by the Ocean Conservancy on the third Saturday of every September. The Ocean Conservancy works with various organizations and agencies to coordinate volunteers to clean beaches and record their findings in different states.
The Texas Adopt-A-Beach program began in 1986 as a way to keep Texas beaches clean through annual all volunteer cleanups and helps educate the public on harmful marine debris. Volunteers can help keep Texas beaches clean by attending coastwide cleanups held throughout the year along the Texas coast, or by donating online to the Adopt-A-Beach program. Volunteers can check cleanup schedules and register online at texasadoptabeach.org.
