CSA Ocean Sciences Inc. (CSA) exhibit at the American Wind Energy Association’s Offshore WINDPOWER conference in Boston, MA on October 22-23, 2019. In attendance from CSA were Robert Mulcahy (Chief Operating Officer), Gordon Stevens (Vice President and General Manager), Mary Jo Barkaszi (Offshore Wind and Renewable Energy Market Director), Bob Erickson (Northeast Region Manager), and Melanie Cahill (Infrastructure Program Director). CSA co-exhibited with our partners MMT.

The annual AWEA conference was attended by over 1,100 industry-related professionals to discuss the current issues facing the offshore wind in the United States. This year, the principal takeaway from the conference was no longer “if” the offshore wind industry will happen in the U.S., but rather “how” it will happen. Several offshore wind developments are advancing through the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) approval and federal and state permitting process, executing construction contracts and planning to put steel in the water in 2020. Two days of sessions and presentations included a broad range of subject matter facing the offshore wind industry, including permitting issues, fisheries concerns, ports and vessel challenges, cost and risk reduction strategies, transmission solutions, and state forecasts.

During the conference, the CSA/MMT booth was visited by many existing clients, industry representatives, and associates from a variety of companies, agencies, and organizations involved in offshore wind.

CSA has a long history of conducting planning, permitting, monitoring, and mitigation associated with a variety of domestic and international coastal marine dredging projects. CSA specializes in providing marine environmental consulting associated with the permitting and development of offshore energy projects and has provided environmental consulting and permitting support for multiple offshore wind developments and studies along the U.S. Atlantic coast from Massachusetts to Virginia.
