CSA to Discuss Mitigation and Monitoring at the Pacific Offshore Wind Summit 2022

CSA Ocean Sciences Inc. (CSA) will be discussing mitigation measures associated with offshore wind development at the Pacific Offshore Wind Summit 2022. The summit is being coordinated by Offshore Wind California (OWC) and Infocast. This in-person offshore wind industry conference will be held March 28-30, 2022 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Union Square, San Francisco. The primary scope for the conference will be the Pacific Coast, including California, Oregon, Washington, and Hawai’i, with a focus on California as a leader and hub for floating offshore wind development, jobs, and expertise for the Pacific Rim region and beyond. OWC engages in public education and advocacy in support of this renewable resource as part of a comprehensive solution to California's energy needs.

Mr. Brian Balcom, a Senior Scientist working out of CSA’s Monterey (California) office, will be part of a panel discussion addressing a key monitoring and mitigation issue: Developing a Plan for Monitoring and Mitigating Operational Impacts in High-Risk Areas. Mr. Balcom has been involved with CSA’s offshore energy and renewable energy projects since 1981, providing technical expertise and impact assessment, mitigation, and monitoring experience pursuant to U.S. and international regulations. He will provide insight and perspective for CSA’s recent mitigation and monitoring efforts conducted for U.S. offshore wind farms, with a focus on biological resources at highest risk.
